Aktueller Anlass für die Frage: Israels Verteidigungsminister Yaalon soll in kleiner Runde erklärt haben, dass die Ermittler die mutmaßlichen Täter des tödlichen Brandanschlags von Duma kennen. Sie könnten sie aber nicht festnehmen, zitiert die Tageszeitung Haaretz den Minister. In der vergangenen Woche war Reham Dawabsha in Nablus beigesetzt worden. Die junge Frau erlag ihren Brandverletzungen. Sie ist das dritte Todesopfer des Brandanschlags von Duma, im Westjordanland. Jüdische Siedler stehen im Verdacht, das Haus der Familie Dawabsha Ende Juli beschmiert und in Brand gesetzt zu haben. Israels Verteidigungsminister Yaalon bestätigt die Berichte. Aber er erklärte, man könne die Tatverdächtigen nicht anklagen ohne die eigenen Geheimdienst-Quellen zu enttarnen. >>>

(…) Die israelische Blockade trat im Juni 2015 in ihr 9. Jahr ein und hat auch weiterhin eine verheerende Wirkung, da der Zugang zu Märkten und die Bewegungsfreiheit der Menschen in den Gazastreifen hinein und hinaus strikt eingeschränkt bleibt. Die Wirtschaft und somit die Möglichkeit, Arbeitsplätze zu schaffen, wurde (dadurch) zunichte gemacht.

Die Mehrheit der Bevölkerung wird bezüglich ihrer Grundversorgung von humanitärer Hilfe abhängig.
Die Anzahl palästinensischer Flüchtlinge, die auf die Unterstützung von Nahrungsmitteln durch die UNRWA angewiesen ist, ist von unter 80.000 im Jahr 2000  - heutzutage auf fast 877.000 gestiegen.

UNRWA-Ingenieure haben bestätigt, dass 140.190 palästinensische Flüchtlingsheime von dem Konflikt im Jahr 2014 betroffen waren: 9.117 gelten als vollkommen zerstört, 5.252 Unterkünfte wurden schwer beschädigt, 3.700 erlitten größere und 122.121 kleinere Schäden.

 Die UNRWA ist eine Agentur der Vereinten Nationen. Sie wurde durch die Generalversammlung im Jahre 1949 eingerichtet und damit beauftragt, einer Bevölkerung von 5 Millionen registrierten palästinensischen Flüchtlingen Hilfe und Schutz zu bieten. Ihre Aufgabe ist es, palästinensischen Flüchtlingen in Jordanien, im Libanon, in Syrien, der Westbank und im Gazastreifen zu helfen, ihr volles Potential bei der menschlichen Entwicklung zu erzielen, bis zu einer gerechten Lösung für ihre Misere.                                       (dt. Antisemiten und Philosemiten - Abi Melzer - Jutta Ditfurth möchte sich von allen Freunden entfreunden, die eine „fragwürdige Position gegenüber jüdischen Menschen“ haben. Da will sie eine eindeutige Linie ziehen. Aber wo und wie ist diese Linie? Was bedeutet hier „fragwürdig“? Ist Kritik an Netanjahu schon eine „fragwürdige“ Position? Ist Kritik an der fragwürdigen Politik des Staates Israel auch schon fragwürdig?

Schon wieder taucht da eine Jean d´Arc aus altem preußischen Adelsgeschlecht auf und will uns Juden verteidigen. Gott im Himmel, ich glaube zwar nicht, dass es dich gibt, aber wenn es dich gibt, dann schütze uns Juden doch vor solchen fragwürdigen Gestalten, die uns retten wollen und deshalb offene und klare Debatten nicht zulassen. Sie wollen uns in Watte einpacken und uns vor jeder Kritik am Staat Israel, der ja vielen von uns Juden am Rücken vorbeigeht, schützen, obwohl wir gar nicht beschützt werden wollen.

Ich kann auf solche Beschützer verzichten, und ich bleibe weiter Freund von Diether Dehm. Ich kenne ihn schon seit 1970, als ich sein erstes Buch verlegt habe. Mir ist es nie aufgefallen, dass er eine „unklare Position gegenüber dem Antisemitismus“ hat. Dabei habe ich vor fünfundvierzig Jahren, was Antisemitismus betrifft, keine Ohren gehabt, sondern Antennen, die auf die leiseste antisemitische Regung reagiert haben. Bei Dieter Dehm hat sich da nichts bewegt. >>>

Israel to Bypass EU Labeling by Direct State Contacts - Israel's foreign ministry decided last week to ramp up its fight against labeling settlement products by circumventing the EU via direct contact with its members, reports the Israeli news portal nrg.

In parallel, the possibility is being examined to submit lawsuits against the EU itself or against its member states in the European Court.

Israel estimates that the European Commission, the executive body of the EU, will publish guidelines mandating the labeling of goods produced in the occupied West Bank, East Jerusalem and Golan Heights settlements already in the coming days, or at the very latest during October.

The EU Foreign Minister, Federica Mogherini, said in a debate of the European Parliament some ten days ago that labeling products is a done deal; the working assumption of Israel's foreign ministry is therefore that the EU as an official body will not halt this process. >>>

Israeli leaders delight in Europe’s cruelty toward refugees - Rania Khalek Rights and Accountability - As most of the world looks on in horror at Europe’s atrocious response to refugees escaping war and persecution in the Middle East and Africa, some Israeli officials are quietly reveling in the chaos.

Dore Gold, director general of the Israeli foreign ministry, expressed optimism that the refugee influx will shift Europe to the right, making it more sympathetic to Israel’s “security” justification for its ongoing colonization of Palestine.

“Israel always faced the problem in the past that its national security perspective was completely out of sync with how Europeans were viewing the emergence of the European community and the borderless world that was emerging,” the American-born hardliner told The Jerusalem Post.

“In the European models that existed 25 or 30 years ago, it is kind of difficult to hear an Israeli argument. But now things may be beginning to change a little,” posited Gold.

“The European perspective is beginning to sound a little bit more like Israel’s perspective on security issues, compared to what it was in the past.” >>>

UNRWA develops cutting-edge poverty assessment software technology that “knows no borders” - On 31 May 2015, UNRWA restarted poverty assessment home visits in Gaza after a year-long interruption, during which the Agency engaged in intensive efforts to improve the quality, fairness and speed of the process, which serves to determine eligibility for food assistance and other poverty-targeted services. Within the reform process for its Poverty Assessment System (PAS) in Gaza, the Agency has developed tablet-based software that can be considered the next generation of survey technology worldwide.

Families who have long been waiting – some for over a year – to be considered for food assistance can now be surveyed and expect a fast-tracked result, which means that those who qualify will start receiving their food rations as soon as the next quarter. This has been made possible through new survey software that enables UNRWA to assess the poverty status of more than one million Palestine refugees, including the current 876,000 beneficiaries and new applicants, in a more rapid and accurate way. The PAS is customized to the Gaza context and is designed to assess even large families and create household profiles with up to 35 members with various characteristics. Netanyahu Cannot Mask His Utter Depravity Forever -  In a desperate move that masks a profoundly deep guilt for his inhumane actions, Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claims, “The UN report, published in June as regards Israel’s Gaza offensive in 2014 is biased. The commission that wrote it is under a committee that does everything but protect human rights.”

If that is the case, then how come human rights organizations are calling for urgent international action to protect civilians in the besieged city of Gaza, which is now under a new wave of aerial attacks? How come international rights group, Defense for Children, says Israeli forces and settlers have killed nearly 2,000 Palestinian children over the past 15 years?

Certainly Allan Hogarth, Amnesty International UK's Head of Policy and Government Affairs, is not an anti-Semite, when he says: "The UK should be unequivocal about Israel's settlement policy in the Occupied Palestinian Territories, which is a war crime. The UK must press for an immediate halt to Israel's construction and expansion of illegal settlements. All those suspected of criminal responsibility must be brought to trial." >>>

Most Palestinians Now Oppose Two-state Solution, New Research Reveals - A new poll overturns previous findings on the preferred Palestinian outcome to the conflict, and demonstrates widespread pessimism among those living in the West Bank and Gaza. - Ali Sawafta
More than half of Palestinians no longer support a two-state solution to the conflict with Israel, a survey released on Monday showed, rejecting the goal that has underpinned four decades of international diplomacy.

The poll by the Palestinian Centre for Policy and Survey Research, a leading research group in the Palestinian territories, found that 51 percent of Palestinians oppose the two-state solution while 48 percent support it.

The figures were down from 51 percent support and 48 percent opposition three months ago. The survey was carried out on 1,270 people in the occupied West Bank and in Gaza from September 17-19. >>>
